Meaning of the Symbol: I believe that a symbol of any Kind does not define a person. However, I carry a symbol each day of my life on a finger on my left hand, my wedding band. This ring reminds me of my love and commitment to my wife. Like wise, I like this great monogram of Christ as a reminder of who I am, from where I am coming from and to where I am going to. When I face the storms of my life, I make choices. This symbol would remind me that, In my heart and with each action I take, I acknowledge God as my supreme source and origin of everything in my life, my God, my friend and savior. The Chi-Rho (pronounced "KEE-roe") is a Christian symbol. The Chi-Rho can represent either Christ or Christianity and is also known as a Christogram. This monogram is the oldest known monogram of Jesus Christ dating back to the second century.  This symbol, representing Christians is frequently found carved in the catacombs, on tombs and in wall paintings of Christians of the era.

The Chi-Rho was used by Christians before Constantine but it became much more widespread after he adopted it. The chi-rho appeared on the coins of Constantine and his Christian successors, sometimes alone and sometimes as part of a military standard as described by Eusebius. It continues to be widely used today.

The samples shown here are copies in plaster from carvings found at the Saint Callisto Catacomb in Rome.

This monogram consist of the intersection of the capital Greek letters Chi (Χ) and Rho (Ρ), which are the first two letters of "Christ" in the Greek  language (ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ, Christos).

The Alpha and Omega, theses known words of Christ are also represented here. The wreath or crown of olive leaves represent our Lord Jesus Christ as our King.

SBG

I sign my name with SBG meaning "Saved by His Grace". This is a personal reminder of not only when I was baptized in Christ, but when I was saved from certain death on that Saturday morning in July 6, 2002 when a robber shot me at Hannon Jewelers.
